Well, I'm going to be adding RPG stats (just stats!) to the shop. I needs some ideas on a few things. - Should user's be able to buy increases?
- If no, then should staff still be able to edit stats?
- What should the default stats be?
- ...

Yay! You have taken a good suggestion, CC! I'm very happy that you'll be doing this. Anyway, maybe they could buy increases, but maybe we'd be able to name them things. For instance, a user buys an item to increase health, and it's called a Healing Potion or something? Also, yes, staff should definitely be able to increase stats! And default stats, I'm not quite sure what you mean... ?

Hmm some stat maybe to consider. - Health or Hit points: say you start of with 100 could you get more?
- Armour: you could buy certain types of Armour's, some better than others.
- Power: determined by weapons/items and posts -
say you had like the beast Axe and the best shield and best Armour etc
and then say you went up against a n00b with like a stick and a pebble - who's going to win? - obviously the n00b -obviously the guy with the best stuff lol, and you need to somehow measure this.
Example of noob power points - stick =2 power points
- pebble=1 power point
- crappy Armour=3 power points
2+1+3= 6 power points
Example of cool guy power points - super cool Axe =200 power points
- super cool shield=100 power point
- super cool Armour=300 power points
200+100+300= 600 power points
to determine who would kick ass -
600-6=594
so in theory the cool guy could just be able to take on 100 n00bs.
This code is super complicated! Maybe this could all be in the code. Customizable start off stats. Certain items increase certain stats Example: [0,"basic health potion","http://proboards.the-ccw.net/pb/shop/items/basichealth.gif",500,"A basic health potion",0,1], var= ["increase health stat",20hp] [1,"basic Armour","http://proboards.the-ccw.net/pb/shop/items/basichealth.gif",500,"A basic health potion",0,1], var= ["increase armour stat",20ap] hp = hit points ap=Armour points. or something like that. Note: i know squat about java-script so many possibilities - maybe it would be cool if you could add a generator for this type of thing... Like say if someone wanted this but not that they could block it out. and it would generated the code. So maybe i got carried away with this post, but thinking about this concept and all its possibilities of being the most successful and aw inspiring RPG code out to date is amazing - I really do hope this get out there. Good luck;) I hope this post was helpful at all.

I just ask that admins should be able to edit stats and that the stats are not determined by posts!

So are you only having stats or...? Cause i have other ideas that i just came up with recentlly... - Certain items DO increase their stat
But if you mean buying stats - only health refills, And they'd instantly heal you.
- Yes staff SHOULD be able to edit stats
- The default stats...
- Health - 20
- Attack - 5
- Armour - 0
...
- 1.) Health is just your hit points. When these run out, your dead! Lil. You loose all your stuff. And if any default items were set (if this is an option) then you get them back, thats all, but this would also increase the demand for a bank.
- 2.) Attack - Determined by your weapons. INCLUDING, any default items,(if they are weapons) that were set
FOR EXAMPLE:
The default Attack is - 5 but the default item is a crap sword which is a weapon with an attack rating of 3
So your default attack is 5 and the crap swords attack is 3 so 5+3=8 so the attack is 8. This principle applies to any weapon you get.
- 3.) Armour
This could be either a variation of two things:
- a.)An Armour like body Armour that eventually deplenishes when hit over and over or;
- b.)Armour that subtracts the attack that you are issued with, kinda like defense.
FOR EXAMPLE: Your Armour is 5
Someone attacks you for 10 points
Only 5 attack points would get in
Thus your health points would go down by 5. Simple, right?
These stats would be displayed as text under the money, in the users mini profile.
To attack another person:
It would be a Ubbc button, when clicked it would display ; [attack=X] Where X is is a persons user name.
So say i want to attack The CCWorld , i would type or press the ubbc button and the text would display as
[attack=admin] (Since The CCWorld's user id is ADMIN) Also when you attack someone, it uses your attack number and minuses their defense and if it goes into the hit points it minuses hairpins Thats if it uses technique 3a
Or it uses technique 3b, either way you get a resulting number as their hit points displayed on the person's mini profile whom you attacked.
All the weapons you have accumulated would result as a final attack number.
Also When you attack someone a message is displayed in the thread saying you have been attacked and the number you have been attacked for. Also an automated pm is sent from the attacker to the attackee
FOR EXAMPLE:
[/i]admin:You have been attacked for 3 points. this message is also sent via pm [/li][/ul] External ideas- Just ideas, I'm not to serious about these as the ones above.
4.) Separate Attack, weapon of choiceMaybe instead of having All the weapons you have accumulated would result as a final attack number, you could have it so that you'd be able to attack a person with a weapon of choice. Again using a ubbc button. Maybe like this... [Attack=admin]crapsword[/attack] The message would now not only display what points you've been attacked for but also what weapon was used. Random events could be another thing. you could now link the action to the text. FOR EXAMPLE:Thief comes and takes 20$ it would now have to put this action into play - what i mean is it would have to not only display that text but ACTUALLY DO IT. Which makes it more difficult. Uhh thats all for now i spose - my brains fried and I'm hungry - so I'm off, I'll post some more ideas later - possibly - Cya's - Tell us what you think of these ideas...

Uh... CC, would you mind giving us an update? We'd love to know what ideas you're going to use, I'm sure... BBglass007--if you don't mind my comments, those are good ideas. You seem to have a HUGE imagination (just like me! ), but perhaps you should read this part again: Well, I'm going to be adding RPG stats (just stats!) to the shop. Note how it says, 'just stats.' The whole attack thing might be getting a bit complicated...although I have to say it is a good idea... One of the disadvantages to doing something like that, though, is that it turns everything into an RPG, which I'm pretty sure isn't what it's supposed to be. Furthermore, not everybody with RPGs will have that specific kind of RPG where such a code would apply. Mine, for example, would not. I just figured out (being so slow ) that what you probably meant by 'default stats,' is what the stats should be. Personally, I don't care what they are as long as it's possible to edit them and add/change/remove them. What I mean is, perhaps in the admin area, there could also be an option to Edit RPG Stats? I just think that not everybody is going to want to have the same thing. Attack, Defense, Health, for example. Well on my site that doesn't apply at all.

Things I've decided since this started- You'll be able to buy increses on stats if allowed by the admin
- No attack type thing will be included
- The default stats will include
- It will be admin editable (individual user's stats)
- The RPG Stats stuff will be completly hidden until enabled under the modules section of the shop admin panel

Thats pretty cool. This is going to be one hell of a code. May i ask, The attack type thing. Was it simply because of the complexity that you decided to exclude this, or becuase you have no intrest in it or something toatally different? _ yes, i have been pondering on such a thing and have discovered how complex it would be to have an attack - It would work like a donation and they would only be attacked once the pm is read Therefore it isnt really possible. :/ or almost impossible. I like these conclusions very much so

All the above. Its complexity makes me have no intrest in it.

Wait...
Will the stats themselves be able to be changed? Like, suppose I want to change Health/HP to something else, like Sickles (bad example, but I have a Harry Potter RP Board)? And then suppose I wanted to get rid of 'Armor,' could I delete that option? Then, let's say I wanted to change 'Power' to 'Classes.'
Would I be able to add/change/remove RPG stats? And also could I change the increase per post?

okay, i registered just so i could post my two cents so i hope ya all listen Right now for sale in the shop are: weapons, tools, balloons, pets, clothes, magical/mediacal, and jewels. my suggestion is that their is a stat for each of these. weapons - power clothes/ armour - defense jewels - luck Pets - aglity magical - healing + health or something tools - intelligence balloons *everyone is so distracted by pretty colors they dont realize i dont have an idea* so basically i think power, health, aglity, defense and luck should be the main things. now to level them i think you should get a pre-determined amout of experience per post and every level you get some stats to distribute, so you can add points to your skills. hehe posting is like killing monsters in other games you get money and experience ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- oh and if you make a v2 of an rpg hack i think it'd be so cool if peoples could battle~ Something like where when someone wants to pick a fight the go to a certain board and do/say something then a challenger comes and the person with the most aglity goes first so the guy with most aglity hits the other the power stat + weapon is subtracted from the defense+ armour then thats how much damage he does to the non- agile guy if the non agile guy still lives then he attacks and so on luck can be used as critical hit (randomized) or a lucky block (randomized) I have no experience in java coding so i dont know how complex this would be but it would be amazing espically for rpg boards...even better if the miniprofile could be sort of switched with a rpg profile when a link is clicked any way thanks for listening to my 2 cents and i hope an rpg hack is made soon btw i love the yourshop

Any updates on this yet CC? Actually, I'd be interested in helping you on it..... E-mail me or pm .... I've modified your code a couple times..... (where the stars were..I have a rank-system(I have a Trek RPG board) and added it so certain things show-up in mini-profileIE:awards)
If you're not interested in any help, thats cool.... but I do have a suggestion for you:
The stats.... 2 things
1) That they dont quit working after 1,000 posts (most do IE: keep it simpleRPG) 2) that the stats be in a table(mini profile) and you can change the border-color.
Pretty simple stuff... but needed for us die-hard rpgers.
Great job BTW!

I'm actually re-coding the entire shop. 1) All they need to do is work with the comma (IE: not explode ) like the shop already does 2) i'd only have the enabled with a mini-profile code (maybe included in the next shop )

Obviously RPG stats take a while, to code, even without a battle system. But, I know basically everyone alive with an RPG site, would want a battle system, even if it's one of those cheap battle systems that you have to take turns doing.
Anyway, I really wanted to say, what's the point of having RPG stats that says HP/DP when you can't attack. And what's the point og having healing potions, strength potions, etc if they don't work for anything. The shop code itself is very long, but hey it's only a suggestion, and there's no one alive on ProBoards that can be bothered making a Battle System. Don't bother listening to my suggestions, I have no interest in RPG stats as there are a million codes that can give you stats. Enjoy!
